What assessment will students do this term?
Assessment of pupils’ work will be completed formatively throughout lessons, utilising teacher marking, peer and self-assessment, as well as through investigative skills and practical investigations. Summative assessments will take place once a term and will take the form of a combined unit test for each of the topics listed above.
What homelearning will be set this term?
Homelearning will be set weekly for years 7-9 and will consist of a variation of the following:
- Literacy, numeracy, SMSC tasks
- Investigation write ups
- Test revision
- Making models
- Exam style questions
- Online questions/activities
- Summary / progress check worksheets

What extension project can students complete at home on this topic?
- Optional extra reading will be provided through google classroom especially for higher sets. This reading will consist of interesting articles related to topics being studied and science in the news.
- Competitions will be run throughout the year to encourage cross-curricular links. For example, poetry competitions and model making.
- Pupils can attend STEM club on a Wednesday A after school to fulfil their passion for science.
