SEND Information Report

The SEND department at The Ongar Academy is a dynamic and integral part of the school, dedicated to addressing the growing needs of our most vulnerable students. The department is continually expanding, with a team of experienced staff who each have individualised roles and responsibilities.

At The Ongar Academy, we believe in fostering a strong partnership between the school, parents, and students, working closely to nurture well-rounded young adults with a focus on holistic development.

Our team collaborates with internal staff and external multi-agency partners to understand each student's unique need and determine the most suitable support or intervention. Our PALSCo, an experienced primary SENCo, oversees the transition from primary to secondary school, as we recognise how challenging this can be for both parents and students.

Our PALS (Pastoral and Learning Support) team works closely with their assigned year groups to develop strong, supportive relationships with both students and their families. This enables us to implement a systematic approach to learning, ensuring that barriers to accessing education are effectively addressed.
