House System
Our new and exciting House system was launched in 2024/25 whereby students opted to change our house names from Agnesi, Brunel, Curie and Darwin to KITE, OSPREY, FALCON and RAVEN.
At The Ongar Academy, students played a vital role in the rebranding process and opted for the house names to be focussed around ‘Birds’. Our student leadership team surveyed all of the results from both staff and students, taking into account the voice of the members of our school community.
Two Heads of Houses lead on the house system in the Academy with Mr Talbot overseeing KITE and FALCON and Mr Hudgell leading on OSPREY and RAVEN.
Each house has its own colour as specified below.
- KITE – RED
- OSPREY – BLUE
- FALCON – YELLOW
- RAVEN – GREEN
Each child is assigned to one of the four houses, whereby they will compete and collate as many achievement points as possible throughout the academic year. Points can be awarded for positive behaviour and attitudes, alongside participating in a full range of interhouse competitions.
Our house system encourages students from year groups 7-11 to work cohesively together, building on our four key values of Resilience, Respect, Community and Integrity, which supports and enhances a positive spirit within our Academy.
