At The Ongar Academy, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of all our students, staff and the wider community. In alignment with the principles set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2024  the Southend, Essex and Thurrock (SET) Procedures, and Working Together to Safeguard Children, 2023 , we maintain a vigilant, proactive, and collaborative approach to protect all children from harm, neglect and exploitation.

Our safeguarding strategy is rooted in our core values of Respect, Resilience, Integrity and Community. We foster an inclusive environment where every individual is valued and treated with dignity and respect. By cultivating resilience, we empower our students to confidently navigate challenges, while our commitment to integrity ensures transparency and accountability in all safeguarding practices.

As a school community, we work together with external agencies, parents and carers to maintain a culture of vigilance and swift action. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we strive to ensure that every member of our school community feels safe, supported and empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
